Registering for Czech TV & Radio Fees in 2025
Avoid a fine of up to 15,000 CZK by registering for mandatory Czech TV and Radio Fees — even if you don’t have to pay anything!
Starting May 1, 2025, new rules for TV and radio license fees apply to freelancers (OSVČ) and companies in the Czech Republic, including those who don’t own a traditional TV or radio.
This guide explains who needs to register, how to do it step by step, and how to avoid penalties — all in English, with official links included.
Who Must Register
You must register for Czech TV and radio fees if:
You are a freelancer (OSVČ) with an active Czech trade license
You own or use any device that receives TV or radio signals (including smartphones, laptops, etc.)
You rent out vehicles equipped with TV or radio receivers
You have 25 or more employees under your business
NOTE: Even if you have fewer than 25 employees, you still must register, but your fee will be automatically set to 0 CZK.
1. How to Register for TV Fees (Česká Televize)
You can register for the Czech TV fee online in just a few minutes. The process is in Czech only, but you can follow this step-by-step guide in English. You must complete this registration if you have an active Czech trade license—even if your fee will be 0 CZK.
Step 1: Go to the official registration page

Step 2: Start registration with your email
Enter your email address and click “Zaregistrovat se”

Check your email and open the confirmation email
Click the button “Vytvořit účet na ČT”, then click “Dokončit aktivaci”

Step 3: Set your password
On the activation page, create your password
Click “Nastavit heslo a pokračovat” to continue
Step 4: Enter your business details
Enter your IČO (your 8-digit business ID number — you can find it on your invoices that you issue to your clients)

Your company information will be auto-filled from the business registry
Review and confirm your details
Step 5: Provide required information

Zadejte počet zaměstnanců (Number of employees): Enter 0 if you have no employees
Pronajímáte dopravní prostředky...? (Do you rent vehicles with TVs?): Choose “Ne” if you are not renting a car.
If you have less than 25 employees and you don’t rent vehicles, your monthly fee will be automatically set to 0 CZK, but registration is still mandatory.
Step 6: Submit the registration
Click “Odeslat” to complete the registration
Step 7: Receive confirmation
You will receive a confirmation email
It will state that your monthly fee is 0 CZK, and no further action is needed unless your situation changes
2. How to Register for Radio Fees (Český Rozhlas)
Registration for the Czech radio fee is also done online. The form is in Czech only, but you can complete it easily by following this guide. Even if your monthly fee is 0 CZK, registration is still required if you have an active Czech trade license.
Step 1: Go to the official registration page

Note: The registration page might not work sometimes because too many people are using it. If you see an error, wait a bit and try again later.
Step 2: Enter your email and create an account
Type your email address into the “E-mailová adresa” field
Check the consent box
Click the button “Vytvořit účet” (Create account)
Step 3: Confirm your registration email
Check your email and open the email from Český rozhlas
Click “Ověřit e-mailovou adresu” (Verify email address)
Step 4: Set your password
Create your password
Enter it in the “Zvolte si heslo” field next to your email
Step 5: Select your registration type
Rozhlasový poplatek: Choose “Ještě neplatím” (I am not paying yet)
Účet si registruji pro: Select “Podnikatelský subjekt” (Business entity)
Step 6: Enter your business details
Název subjektu: Your full name (same as in your passport)
IČO: Enter your IČO (your 8-digit business ID number — you can find it on your invoices that you issue to your clients)
Address fields will auto-fill (if not, enter manually)
Kontaktní telefon:Your phone number. This is just for formality — you will not receive any calls or authorization SMS.
Počet zaměstnanců (Number of employees): Enter 0 if you have none
Leave the rental vehicle checkbox unchecked if you don't rent a car
Step 7: Complete the registration
Click “Vytvořit účet a přihlásit poplatníka” (Create account and register)
Step 8: Check your account
You won’t receive a confirmation email.
After logging in, your dashboard will show: “Pravidelná platba – 0 Kč měsíčně” (Regular payment – 0 CZK/month) It means your minthly fee for Czech radio fees is 0 CZK . This means your monthly Czech radio fee has been set to 0 CZK, but you are now officially registered.
FAQ – TV and Radio Fee Registration in the Czech Republic
Do I have to register even if I don’t own a TV or radio?
Yes. If you have any device capable of receiving a TV or radio signal — such as a smartphone, laptop, tablet, or desktop — you are required to register.
Do I need to register if I have 0 employees and pay 0 CZK?
Yes. Registration is mandatory, even if your monthly fee is 0 CZK. If you skip registration, you can be fined up to 15,000 CZK.
I already pay for TV and radio at home. Do I still need to register my business?
Yes. Personal and business registrations are completely separate. You must register under your business IČO if you are self-employed or run a company.
What happens if I don’t register?
If you’re required to register and fail to do so, you can be fined:
10,000 CZK by Česká televize (TV)
5,000 CZK by Český rozhlas (radio)
Can I register later if I missed the deadline?
Yes. It’s better to register late than not at all. There is no back payment if you owe 0 CZK, but fines still apply if you are found unregistered.
