Job seeker visa

From 31st of July 2019, third-nationals who hold a long-term residence permit for the purpose of studies or scientific research and who completed the Czech University are able to apply for Job seeking visa/start a business visa. It issues for a period of up to 9 months. You have to submit the application no later than the last day of the validity of your residence permit for the purpose of studies. You cannot extend this type of visa for the same purpose!

If you have a job seeker visa/starting a business visa you will be able to switch to a business visa without having 5 years of permanently staying in the Czech Republic. In case if you don't find the right employment or launch business within 9 months and decide to study again, it. can be switched back to student visa.

The one important requirement for getting this residence permit is the successful completion of the University in the Czech Republic or the successful completion of the research. According to Czech immigration law, foreigners with any type of Czech residence, cannot change their purpose of stay to freelancing/business before staying 5 years in the Czech Republic. The only possibility to change to a freelancing visa is going through a job-seeker visa.
After your graduation, you can get a job-seeker visa and then after that get a freelancing/business visa.
