How to Get Legal Copies of Original Documents in the Czech Republic
If you're applying for a visa or dealing with any official paperwork in the Czech Republic, you'll need to provide various documents, such as a work contract or rental agreement.
Since you won’t be submitting the original documents, you’ll need to provide legalized copies instead.
Where to Get Legal Copies
Getting your documents legalized is quick and easy, and you don't need to visit a notary. You can get it done at any post office using the Czech Point service, which in Czech is called Ověřování dokumentu.
When you’re at the window, you should tell them: Potřebuji úředně ověřit listinu (it means, I need to get a document legally verified.)
You can even book an appointment online, and the system is available in English.
How Does It Work?
You don’t need to bring your own copy of the document. The staff at the post office will copy it (up to A4 size) and legalize it for you.
The cost of legalization is 100 CZK for the first page and 50 CZK for each additional page.
Documents that can’t be legalized
Documents with photos attached, such as passports, ID cards, or car registration certificates, can’t be legalized.
Foreign language documents
Documents in a foreign language can be legalized without needing to be translated into Czech.
If you prefer, you can also get legal copies at any notary office in the Czech Republic.
