đź‘‹ Hi there!

My name is Milena and I am a visa, nostrification and health insurance coordinator for students here at Pexpats. I’d love to hear from you and I am always available if you have any questions. You can reach me at info@pexpats.com or book a Skype call with me here.

Moving to a new country opens up exciting opportunities for you, but it can also be a bit confusing navigating immigration laws as well as following all of the local rules.

To help you understand what you will need to work with us and make your move to the Czech Republic as easy as possible, I’ve mapped out the steps you’ll take below.

When completing the questionnaire, please be sure to provide all of the requested information. We will need this to prepare all documents for your visa process, and if it isn’t fully completed this could affect whether your visa is approved. You can fill out the questionnairehere. Please also submit a scan of your passport photo with your questionnaire.

Please note: If you are under 18 years of age, please attach your parent’s passport scans as well. We need their passport details to arrange the permission affidavit document you need for staying here.

You will need to provide a few more documents to apply for your visa. Here is a quick checklist of what we will need from you: Bank statement from your bank account

  1. Bank statement from your bank account

    • You need to show a minimum balance of equal to 112 000 CZK in your bank account.

Please note: This doesn’t need to be monthly statements of your transactions, but just a simple confirmation that your current balance in your bank account meets the equal to 112 000 CZK minimum.

    • No joint bank accounts. The minimum amount you must show for proof of funds Is equal to 112 000 CZK for one person. If you have a joint bank account, for example, you and your mother share an account, then that 112 000 CZK is considered to be divided between the two people who share the account, meaning each person would have 56 000 CZK. This will not fulfil the visa conditions for 1 person or 224 000 CZK.

Please note: If you do have a joint bank account, the final balance should be twice the required amount for one person, or 224 000 CZK.

  2. Two ID sized photos The size of your ID size photo should meet the European standard, or 3.5 cm to 4.5 cm, and have a white background.

  3. Criminal clearance report from your home country (please check if you need an apostille or superlegalization). For US citizens it must be in form of Affidavit. The affidavit will confirm that you don't have any criminal records.

  4. Affidavit from your parents or legal guardians   Please skip this if you are over 18 years old. Applicants under 18 years or age need an affidavit of consent from their parent or legal guardians to stay in Czech Republic.

  5. Power of attorney (optional) With the signed power of attorney we will have access to your visa application file and can submit documents and arrange appointments for your visa process. Your signature will be enough to give us the power of attorney.

Please note: With the power of attorney, we have your permission to monitor your file, follow up with the Ministry of the Interior and request that the process be sped up if it is past the deadline.

Some information regarding the proof of accommodation

  • You must have proof of accommodation at least for 12 months for your first visa.
  • If you stay at Zeitraum , you must pay for housing in a maximum of two instalments. You must have to complete the payment in full by the start of the semester.
  • If you decide to move, we will help you to register a new address with the Immigration office.

One of the main conditions to qualify for a Czech visa is to have Czech Health Insurance. Your Health Insurance contract and payment receipt need to have the agency’s stamp when you submit them for your visa. The Czech Embassy sometimes doesn’t accept scans of contracts or electronic contracts.

You are required to have insurance with the Czech insurance company Pojišťovna VZP, a. S. (PVZP) It is required that it covers the entire length of your visa and is issued in the Czech language. The insurance benefit must cover at least EUR 60000 and as a student, you are required to have a comprehensive insurance plan.

AAU can help you to arrange it. They can offer you the best prices for students and monitor your health insurance process, helps once you are sick etc. before arrival and during their stay while studying.

When the process is all finished, we’ll mail you the prepared documents. US citizens can submit their applications by post.

Both files are completed and organized for the Czech Embassy. Please, don’t rearrange the documents and make sure to keep them neat and clean. You’ll just need to hand the documents over to the embassy officer.

In that case, you’ll need to send them your passport.
